The DOE Office of Environmental Policy and Assistance (HS-22) has developed a PowerPoint presentation entitled, "Environmental Risk Assessment Techniques Used at U.S. DOE Sites". The presentaion covers the DOE Standatrd (DOE-STD-1153-20020); RESRAD BIOTA, a tool for implementing a graded approach to biota dose evaluation; and a case study at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL). The DOE Office of Environmental Policy and Assistance (HS-22) has issued an Information Brief entitled, National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants: Emergency Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines [HS-21-18-2011-25 (August, 2011)]. The Information Brief addresses the EPA direct final rule issued on March 9, 2011 (76 FR 12863), that promulgates amendments to the national emission standards for hazardous air pollutants (NESHAPS) for existing stationary spark ignition reciprocating internal combustion engines (RICE). The Information Brief covers applicability of the RICE NESHAPS to DOE facilities, source categories, operational limits, notifications, maintenance, the oil analysis program, recordkeeping, and other emnergency RICE requirements. The DOE Office of Environmental Policy and Assistance (HS-22) announces a training course, SAF-237, Multi-Agency Radiation Survey & Assessment of Materials & Equipment (MARSAME) Methodology, to be held May 2-5, 2011, at DOE Headquarters in Washington, DC. The course presents information on surveys where radiological control of materials and equipment (M&E) could be initiated, maintained, removed, or transferred to another responsible party. The course is designed for DOE employees, DOE contractors, and MARSAME work group members responsible for the design and execution of surveys for the release of materials and equipment from facilities that handle, or previously handled, radioactive materials. Individuals who should attend this course include health physicists, project managers, and regulatory personnel. A PDF of the course announcement is available below.
