Environmental Radiological Control Coordinating Committee (ERCCC)

Overview of the ERCCC

Purpose, Scope & Objective

The purpose of the Environmental Radiological Control Coordinating Committee (ERCCC) is to ensure a smooth and consistent implementation of Title 10 Code of Federal Regulations Part 834 (10 CFR 834), "Radiation Protection of the Public and the Environment." The overall objective of the ERCCC is to promote consistency in development and implementation of the Environmental Radiological Protection Program (ERPP), and foster continuing involvement in DOE envirdnmental radiological control programs. The ERCCC functions as a forum of professionals to support and make recommendations to the Office of Environment, Safety and Health on the implementation of 10 CFR 834, which includes:

  • Exchanging information and ideas on noteworthy successes and lessons learned;
  • Coordinating training and orientation issues;
  • Advising on environmental radiological control, monitoring, and surveillance methods, practices, and techniques;
  • Providing information on emerging environmenntal radiological control standards and technologies in commercial and international sectors; and
  • Providing a focus point for presenting issues on the preparation and implementation of the ERPP.
