CAIRS Direct Data Entry and Introduction to CAIRS Coding Training

This 3 1/2 hour workshop introduces participants to the injury and illness coding system used in CAIRS to classify case characteristics. Participants will learn how the coding system is structured, how to use the system to properly classify cases, and uses of the data to identify various occupational safety and health problems that can lead to injury and illness. Through discussion and hands-on exercises participants will evaluate sample case information and use this information to classify cases in a manner that will accurately describe attributes of each case.

Prerequisites: Attendance is limited to DOE and DOE contractor employees with current recordkeeping and reporting responsibilities. Participants should have completed Fundamentals of the CAIRS.
