GreenGov Challenge

Secretary Chu and DOE are actively encouraging our federal employees to participate in the GreenGov Challenge — A Bottom-Up Approach to Greening Government. This online participatory program challenges federal and military personnel to take part in implementing the President's Executive Order on Federal Sustainability by submitting their own clean energy ideas and suggestions and voting on others. In coordination with National Energy Awareness Month, any Federal employee or military member can submit a clean energy idea until October 31, 2009st.

Ideas may be submitted to: http://www.whitehouse.gov/greengov/. To submit an idea, one must register a WhiteHouse.gov account by submitting name, agency, and email address.

DOE Contractors Please Note: While federal contractors cannot participate directly in this competition, we encourage you to partner with federal employees who are eligible to submit ideas. Many of DOE's most successful and innovative projects have come from joint efforts by our federal and contractor employees. Consider cooperating with a fed.

At the beginning of November 2009, leading ideas will be presented to the Steering Committee on Federal Sustainability — a group of senior officials from each agency responsible for delivering each agency's sustainability plan. Though only Federal and military personnel can participate, contractors should consider joining with a federal employee to submit good ideas. This is a chance to positively impact how agencies like DOE will meet their 2020 greenhouse gas emissions reduction target. Even if you don't have an idea, you can vote to support the ideas of others.

Spread the word. Share the news with your colleagues and co-workers. Together we can make a difference.
