2011 DOE Safety and Security Enforcement Workshop

Office of Enforcement and Oversight

The Office of Health, Safety and Security's (HSS) Office of Enforcement will be hosting its 2011 DOE Safety and Security Enforcement Workshop on the dates and location provided below.

When: April 5 - 7, 2011  
   
  April 5 and 6 are open to Federal employees and contractors (8 am - 5 pm)

  April 7 is a half-day session for Federal participants only (8 - 11:30 am)

 

The Energy Facility Contractors Group (EFCOG) Enforcement Coordination Working Group will be holding a meeting on April 7 at the Nevada Support Facility. For more information about that meeting, click here.

The purpose of this workshop is to provide updated information and resources to DOE and NNSA Federal and contractor personnel regarding roles, responsibilities, authorities, expectations, and approaches for implementing the Department's worker safety and health, nuclear safety, and classified information security regulatory enforcement programs. The Workshop will feature:

  • An overview of the safety and security enforcement programs and implementation process
  • Expectations for implementing Federal and contractor compliance assurance and monitoring processes
  • Discussion of the impact of DOE management reforms on the HSS enforcement program
  • Safety and security noncompliance reporting trends
  • Perspectives on recent enforcement cases
  • Feedback from Regulatory Assistance Reviews
  • Information pertaining to recent legal issues
  • Practical exercises related to identifying and reporting noncompliances
  • Expectations regarding Federal line management's participation in enforcement cases
  • Invited speakers

This workshop is open to all DOE, NNSA, contractor, and subcontractor personnel with an interest in DOE's safety and security enforcement programs. It is particularly targeted for DOE Federal, contractor, and subcontractor personnel responsible for implementing and overseeing worker safety and health, nuclear safety, and classified information security programs, and personnel responsible for collecting, screening, evaluating, and reporting noncompliance information.
